Makeshift Meals: Balanced Oatmeal Bowl

Updated: Mar 27

First things first, #soulwork in the kitchen...

Song I'm Singing:

Words I'm Thinking:

It can’t rain forever.

Breakfast is important! Let's try to have a balanced breakfast that is budget-friendly, uses common ingredients, and tastes good. Mmm! I am using ingredients that are common staples. If you do not have all of these, adapt however needed. These are good items to stock up on or to get for others.

Balanced Oatmeal Bowl:

Makes one serving.

*Modify however you need/want to. Leave extra items out, use less, or add more!

What you need:

1 C liquid (water, milk, milk substitute)

1/2 C rolled oats

~1/8 tsp. salt (1 or 2 pinches...)

~1 Tbsp. milk or milk substitute (I used whole milk)

~1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

~1 Tbsp. Sunbutter, almond butter, or peanut butter

~1 Tbsp. raisins (one spoonful)

~2 tsp. chia seeds (shake, shake)

~2 tsp. flax seeds (shake, shake)

~1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon (shake, shake)

Optional: ~1 tsp. pure honey

What you do:

1. Cook oats according to package directions.

2. Add in all the good stuff, stir it up, eat it up.

Open up those blinds/doors (or sit outside), turn on some music, and ENJOY!
